Who was the leader of the Mongol Empire, what is his role?

The founder of the Mongolian Emipre is the notorious Genghis Khan. To win his postion he had to fight and kill his way through to the top. His name meant, "universal ruler" (which everyone thought he was). The Mongol people were fierce, cruel, and deadly nomadic warriors. Genghis organized his fierce army of merciless people into a vast army and began his conquest toward China. By 1221, the Mongols had conquered most of Central China and with it its hope for regaining control.
